A test of a potential change to the USB booster/charger circuit. The old circuit allowed Apple devices to charge at up to 1A, but most other devices were limited to 500mA. The change allows other devices (like Android devices, or in the video, a MiFi) to also draw up to 1A. This means Android phones could be completely recharged in 1 to 1.5 hours from an empty state too. The problem is, allowing both ports to draw that much power pushes the circuit pretty close to its limits. This experiment was promising, but I think more realistic experiments are called for…
